The coloring book is held in front of you, facing the audience. You explain that many people have the Bible in their home but that the pages might as well be blank, as it is seldom if ever read. At this point, you flip through the coloring book, first forward and then back, showing that the pages are blank. You continue, explaining that while some people know a few stories from the Bible, that doesn't give added color to their lives. You run through the book in the same manner as before, but now, black and white pictures of events from the Bible have appeared on the pages. Lastly, the depth and richness of a true Christian's life can be shared by running through the book a last time, pausing on each page to discuss the fully colored drawings of the events in Christ's life. This is a presentation that may be done very quickly or turned into an interesting and informative story that will prompt much audience participation.

With minimal adjustment this would make a great gospel story:  The performer recites... "I would like to share a story with you. A story about... creation!!" He displays a chain of four small silks and continues. "In the beginning there was nothing but darkness (shows black silk), a void of emptiness and utter chaos. Yet from chaos the Maker formed order and sense. First the elements were brought together in union. First there was water (blue silk), then there was land (green silk), then fire (orange silk), and last but not least there was air!" The performer gathers up all the silks in his hand and gently blows a puff of air upon them. The four small silks instantly transform into a large "sunburst" style silk made up of the four colors, and resembling the Planet Earth. "And so... from darkness and the elements was formed the Earth, and life!"

Packs Flat, Plays Big.
This should be in every gospel performers "bag of tricks".
Three large jumbo cards are shown. Each have printed crosses on them, but the center card is in a different color easily depicting it as Christ on the cross between the two thieves. Usually a child is asked to come to the platform and hold a large folder with a picture of the tomb printed on it. The three cards are placed in the tomb as the crucifixion story is told. The two thief cards are removed leaving only the Christ card in the tomb. However the folder is shown to be empty except for a card with the words "HE IS NOT HERE". When the audience thinks that the Christ card is on the reverse side and indicate they would like to see it turned over, the words "HE IS RISEN" appear on the back. Very, very strong Gospel magic and very easy to do. Many performers use it in all of their programs, but a must for any program around the Easter season

Three playing cards are shown, with the king of hearts in the middle. The cards are turned face down, and the spectator is told to pull the king of hearts from the group. When he looks again, the playing card he selected has transformed into a card with a drawing of the face of Christ - the original King of Hearts. Simple to do. Requires no skill.
